Looks like a very interesting device you've got here. I'm looking at using it for a robotics application where I'd need to stream video and serial data over wifi. As an ARM9 processor running linux I'd suspect there are drivers that would enable at least some usb wifi dongles to work... but I havent seen any mention of that here. Anyone have more info?
I have the exact same application in mind. Any updates people?
I'm able to use it with a wifi USB key
I'll post details soon
I used the wifi key from
Mine has raLink rt73 chipset.
From the make config menu enable of the RR Free SDK, RT73USB usb driver at
-> Kernel configuration
-> Device Drivers
-> Network device support (NETDEVICES [=y])
-> Wireless LAN
-> Ralink driver support (RT2X00 [=y])
enable RaLink driver.
Then install the new kernel package, and plug in the wireless usb key. to your HS USB Hub
Download the package from the following link, it has necessary rt73.bin firmware, and rt73sta.dat configuration file.
Follow the instructions from
and skip the driver building part because the RRSDK already has the driver.
How do I proceed to install the drivers if they are not in the installation menu?
Because I would like to install the MS-811N (Mvix Nubbin) but unfortunately I don't know in which folder I have to install them and what Makefile I have to change.
Tunca, thank so much for the information, it will help a lot as we make hardware decisions!
I don't know how to integrate a new driver.
I believe you can do it easly.
by the way, the hardware manual says the sd card port can be used to plug wifi cards
this puzzles me, anyone did that, how is that supposed to work?
well you can use a wifi card in SD format ;)
i've found th eye-fi sd-card and indeed it provides wifi over sd card. i wouldnt have imagined that
this is not really like a real wifi card tho, but "wireless storage"
I am waiting for the new RidgeRun SDK that will be based on the latest Linux kernel that includes many more drivers for USB Wifi dongle. For example, it has the R2X00 drivers library that support ALL the dongle based on the RAlink chip.
Hi, can you upload the RT73_Linux_STA_Drv220.127.116.11.tar.gz file please? That is because I haven't be able to do that, it appears that the download link is broken or unavailable now.

I went to eng.ralinktech.com.tw/support.php and found
RT2501USB(RT73:RT2571W/RT2573/RT2671) which was released on 08/17/2010 (version 18.104.22.168). The tarball is named 2010_0817_RT73_Linux_STA_v22.214.171.124.tar.bz2. Does that meet your needs?
Yes, I think it will be fine. I will test it.
Thanks a lot
