Are there any plans to produce camera boards having higher resolutions (to 15MP)?
We found the data transfer speed was a limitation, when using the MT9Pxxx 5MP sensors to capture. Are there sensors that can transfer at higher speeds?
The MT9Pxxx sensors can perform skipping and binning to support output at lower resolutions than 5MP. But when skipping is applied in the vertical direction, it results in very poor vertical resolution since these sensors read out lines in pairs (e.g. vertical skip x4 will read out lines 0,1,4,5,8,9 etc. so we have groups of two lines close to each other, it effectively halves the vertical resolution, binning does not help). It would be nice to have a sensor with improved vertical bin/skip performance.
We like the large MT9P031 sensor (LI-5M03 board) and are using it exclusively for our projects. It is excellent that there is now a version for CS mount lenses.
The camera boards plug into the Leopardboard vertically and face out, which is sometimes a waste of space. The flexible cable is good, but it would be better if the camera board had a straight connector instead of a right angle one, so we could mount if flat against the Leopardboard. It would be even better if the camera board could be secured to the Leopardboard with screws. I wonder if it would be possible to create an adapter board for this purpose, to sit between the Leopardboard and the camera board, with straight female and right-angle male connectors on opposite sides of the board, and screw holes to mount securely to the Leopardboard and the camera board.
