Hello!

My question is about Aptina MT9M034 sensor. Is it supported in software for LeopardBoard365?

We purchased LeopardBoard365 with LI-CAM-M034 camera board and I can not make it work.

Leopard Imaging sent me their patches for DM368IPNC, but I have no such SDK to apply patches.

Any ideas?

I have a DM368 leopardboard and I'm a little confused as to which software to start out with. The built in firmware that it came with appears to be just a blank environment based on the ridgerun sdk. I am developing an application which takes in composite video, and have the leopard imaging composite encoder board module. What is the best way to get started with a demo application? The ridgerun SDK package? Or the IPNC eval software?

We use last sdk-2011q2(DVSDK-4-02) from ridgerun and TI trunk for gstreamer plugin. I am tring to play mpeg2 streams, but couldn't succeed. I saved stream and tried to play that file, there is no problem. I used below pipelines.

For file(no problem);

The video output component is THS7303 on LeopardBoard DM368. I didn't try it actually.

I have review the related kernel source, there's still problem obviously.

Looking for a solution to a specific application. Need to stream variable text to an on screen display.

I currently have a composite camera and a XBOB-4 that I stream information to via a serial port.

This gives me an OSD On Screen Display that I can update in real time with any information that I need.

I would like to do the same here. Either use a composite in or better yet, use the 5M camera and stream

information over serial (or Ethernet if I can figure out how to do that.) The device that supplies the data is a

redlion DSP that is capable of serial or Ethernet communications. I only mention the redlion for background

information. If the leopardboard can accept a serial string, I can make the redlion conform to whatever

requirements are necessary.

So now to ask the question....

Can this device fill this need?
Is there a software package that addresses this?
How much coding on my end would be necessary to make this work?

I can code but I am a total NOOB with embedded hardware and Linux.

Any advice, help, suggestions are welcome.

I want to use the LI-VI365 with the LB. I have got populated R196 and R197.

It turns out that Steve's recipe for hosting TI's DVSDK 4.02 onto the LeopardBoard DM368 is very good but incomplete ;-).

Recall from above that my configuration is: LeopardBoard DM368 v 1.5 + LI-5M03 Camera Board + DVSDK 4.02.00.06 installed per Steve's recipe. After DVSDK installation, creation of SD Card file system, etc. - the only resolution that would work using ./video_loopback_dm368.x470MV -O component -I camera -y x was 720x480 while using -y 4 or -y 5 (1280x720 or 1920x1080) will not output video via the VPBE component video output.

As Mark points out, the problem is due to the way the EVMDM36x derives its VPBE clocks externally via the CPLD resulting in the way the davinci_enc_select_venc_clock() function operates due to the fact that it checks the requested clock frequency against the current frequency of pll1_sysclk6 or pll2_sysclk5; therefore, Mark's modification must be applied. Although I find that my 16:9 LCD TV can tolerate more than the 1 part in 1000 frequency variance Mark cites.

It's interesting that running ./video_loopback_dm368.x470MV -O component -I camera -y 4 (or -y 5) will not cause an error or any other complaint but the application will hang at the DMAI Display_get() function that is called after Display_create().

Hi Marian , same things happened to me like valenti , i cant get any picture from /dev/video0 , i checked everything it seems ok. i also check signals on LI-VI365 board using scope , it looks like working when i fire gst-lunch command

so can you please send your u-boot cmd's and second question is did u change anything on kernel source

You need to call the AEW (Automatic Exposure / Automatic White Balance) driver - available in the kernel to adjust the gain / color balance based on your environment - from your application. In order to fully understand how the DM36x AEW Module works, you will have to obtain the NDA version of the VPFE User's Guide from your local TI FAE/rep.

The trace you present above is just a DM36x register dump initiated by the kernel when something went wrong in the vpfe_capture driver. You should contact RidgeRun directly to see if they have a patch that corrects the problem.

Recently, I wrote a driver using the EVMDM365 for the Face Detection Module with reasonable success but I abandoned my efforts when I realized that its performance was limited since the image must be monochrome and first written into memory before face detection operations can be performed. This is a serious limitation for our application since we must perform detection on color video at 30 fps but this may not be a limitation for you.

DVSDK 2.10 implemented a fully functional Face Detection Module kernel driver plus it included an example application named face detect_example.c - these items are available on the TI Website.

For our application, we have moved on to an implementation using components from OpenCV.
